COMMUNAL TV SYSTEM TEST AND FIX FOR FLATS IN BETHNAL GREEN, LONDON

We received an emergency call-out from Merticom Ltd, based in Northern Ireland, for an Integrated Reception System (IRS) failure on a block of flats they are responsible for in Colts Lane, Bethnal Green.

An IRS failure means residents who can normally either connect their TV equipment to the free-to-air analogue signals, can connect to the available digital terrestrial/digital satellite television and access DAB and FM radio, are not able to do so.

Our engineers tested the signals within the property with a Spectrum Analyzer, which is a device that monitors radio signals, checks antenna performance, etc. It has multiple abilities to pick up other types of defects, so we had a clear picture on what the fault was before proceeding.

After analysis, we found that the power supply unit had failed causing signal loss on three floors of the block. We promptly replaced it with a new unit from our selection of replacement stock kept in our vehicles, and rigorously tested it upon completion. The whole process allowed us to get the system fixed quickly and up and running efficiently, within 24 hours, so as not to inconvenience the residents. This was one of our main priorities.

As a result of carrying out the work, we will now be providing a fast-response and continuous service for all Meritcom’s London based IRS service call-outs.
